About Bev

Bev Schuetz is a popular and dynamic speaker who has created HISTORY TALKS, a series of live presentations available to organizations. She is known for her unique topics, delightful presentations, and thoroughly researched programs.

Bev appears throughout the greater St. Louis area lecturing on such diverse historical topics as the controversial story of the Veiled Prophet; the father of modern journalism and founder of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Joseph Pulitzer; plus two fascinating and humorous histories – the history of makeup and bizarre beauty practices throughout the world, and the history of undergarments including bras, corsets, and girdles. Bev’s presentations showcase her unique perspective and special insight on colorful historical subjects.

Bev divides her 42 plus topics into three groups. The Individual biographies include Will Rogers, Harry Truman, Charles Lindbergh, and other fascinating figures. The Historical Overviews encompass histories of the world’s oldest profession, wedding customs, and kitchens, cutlery and manners and more. The Special Intriguing Topics section includes a wide range of titles from FBI to Fake Faith Healers to the esteemed Supreme Court. There is something for every group and every interest in the lectures currently offered.

Bev is a consummate and experienced performer. Professionally she has appeared in summer stock, as well as community and regional theaters. She has given business presentations throughout the country. HISTORY TALKS combines her skills in public speaking, historical analysis, and creative writing. The results are lectures that reward and enrich those attending her presentations.

Bev’s background includes degrees in English and in drama and graduate work in history. A retired executive from the medical publishing field, she developed IMPACT STUDIES, a marketing research company. Now, Bev says she finally knows what she “wants to be when she grows up”, and HISTORY TALKS is the answer – a perfect retirement combining all her skills and interests.
